One dish Microwave Macaroni Cheese

During the holidays, you may hear the familiar “I’m hungry” just a few minutes after you have fed your kids. We have good news, though, growing kids can be shown how to make this dish quickly and easily. If you pre-prepare a green salad or some raw veggies to go with it, your kids are good to go!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Macaroni
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • pinch of Salt
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup grated Cheddar Cheese
  • Optional Extras: Diced Vegetables, Cooked Bacon, Chilli Powder, Garlic & Herbs, Your Favourite Spices

Directions

  1. Combine Macaroni, Water, and Salt in microwave-safe bowl.
  2. Microwave Macaroni for 2 Minutes and, then, remove and stir.
  3. Repeat until Macaroni is cooked (4 – 8 minutes). You can add 2 tablespoons of extra water if needed.
  4. Stir in Milk and Cheddar Cheese (and any extras you have selected). The starch in the water will help to thicken the ‘sauce’.
  5. Microwave for 30 seconds and stir. Repeat until cheese is melted.

Tip

Allergy-friendly options: We use gluten-free pasta. Most supermarkets carry a gluten-free range nowadays, which is amazing! If you have a milk allergy, you can also use milk-free alternatives.
