1-3 December | Nicarela Charity Christmas Market (George Hay Park in Parkview, Gauteng) Admission: R50 for adults, free entrance for children under 12 Hours: Friday, 3 pm – 10 pm | Saturday, 10 am – 10 pm Now in its 15th year, the Parkview Charity Christmas Market, a much-loved family event for communities surrounding Parkview, promises a wide range of activities and offerings including an array of food and refreshments to suit all tastes and cultures, over 80 different craft stalls, a children’s play zone, and a whole lot more. And to delight children, Father Christmas will be on call to hear the wishes of children. This event is an opportunity to embrace the festive spirit; support talented crafters and entrepreneurs; and make a positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries of Nicarela Charity. All proceeds go towards supporting the different NGOs and organisations, as well as bursaries for learners at the local Parkview schools. |
8-29 December | Cape Town City Ballet – A Christmas Carol (CBD, Cape Town, Western Cape) Tickets: Webtickets and Artscape Dial-a-Seat Prices: R200.00 – R400.00 Veronica Paeper’s creation of the Charles Dickens tale about the mean spirited Scrooge will be presented by Cape Town City Ballet at the Artscape Drama Theatre from December 8-29, 2023, featuring Marcel Meyer as Scrooge. Cape Town City Ballet invites you to a unique experience with a message of generosity of spirit being the cornerstones of humanity. In this timeless classic story of the triumph of joy, and the victory of the human spirit over greed, we celebrate the joyfulness of children and the magic of the festive season. In addition there are special not to miss events: – Children’s stage parade December 23: after the 14:00 performance they will be invited onstage and given goodie bags to celebrate the festive season. – Year-end festive performance: Join us on December 29 and get the bonus of an additional twenty minute show with choreography by Sean Bovim after the performance. Excerpts from some of his works such as Swing Time and Queen @ the Ballet can be enjoyed. |
15 – 17 December | A Little More Christmas (CBD, Cape Town, Western Cape) Tickets: https://ghcc.tv/a-little-more-christmas Produced and directed by world-famous director Richard Montez, an original production ‘A little more Christmas’ by Richard montez. This Musical, set in 1940’s post war South Africa, tells the story of Alice Garfield and her struggle to give her children the best Christmas in the midst of a worldwide depression. This thrilling musical is filled with drama, laughter, hilarious nautical choreography, a beautiful large-scale set, delicately pleasing melodies and singing. This production will leave your heart filled with overwhelming joy and hope this Christmas season. In addition, they will be hosting the Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen, where your kids can enjoy decorating ginger cookies, a petting zoo and a fun train ride. |
16 December | Gabriëlskloof and Farro Garden Party (Gabrielskloof Wine Estate, Bot River, Western Cape) Admission: The entrance to the Garden Party is entirely free, ensuring that everyone, even furry friends, can partake in the festivities. Hours: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Gabriëlskloof and Farro are ushering in the joy of summer with a Garden Party. It’s set to be a day of revelry, family togetherness, and a culinary extravaganza against the backdrop of the beautiful Botrivier wine valley. For those seeking a culinary adventure, there will be an option to pre-book and purchase gourmet picnic boxes for two adults. Prepared by the Farro team, each box includes a selection of antipasti-style treats, from freshly baked baguettes to an assortment of local cheeses, cured meats, and dips – an epicurean experience designed for sharing. Parents can also pre-book and pay for a kids’ version for R150 per child, which includes a little picnic bag on a stick filled with a variety of foods suitable for young palates, along with a cooldrink and small surprise. |
