Why Women are going Natural with their Skin and Hair Care Routines

. . .and why you should care!

What is Natural Skin Care and why are more Women turning to it?

More and more women are turning to Natural Skincare, Hair care and Cosmetic products. These products use ingredients derived from plants, herbs and minerals. They are often gentler on the skin, and are less likely to cause irritation and/or allergies. They also avoid the use of potentially harmful chemicals, like parabens and sulfates, which can not only have a negative effect on their skin, but also on the environment.

WebMD says:

The average woman in the US uses 12 cosmetic products composed of 168 chemical ingredients daily. Research indicates that not all of these chemical ingredients may be safe for human use. There is evidence that exposure to some of the ingredients found in cosmetics can lead to adverse health outcomes in humans.‌‌ Metals that are part of cosmetic formulations can get absorbed through the skin, accumulate inside the body, and cause harm to internal organs.

How can you use less Chemicals on your Skin and Hair?

There are natural alternatives; ingredients such as green tea, tea tree oil, rose water, lemon, lavender, frankincense, jojoba oil, coriander, walnut, orange peel, camel’s milk, aloe vera, etc, can all be used to managed different skin types and different skin conditions. I have shared some Natural Beauty Recipes on our blog before. I prefer to use natural ingredients, where possible, and there are some easy ways we can do that. Using camel’s milk is a great way to start.

What is so great about Camel’s Milk?

Camel’s milk? Perhaps that was one ingredient you were surprised to see on the list? Recently, I discovered a brand called The Camel Soap Factory and we have been using their products for a few months now, with phenomenal results. The great thing about their products is that they use natural ingredients that have been part of beauty rituals in the Middle East for centuries. Their main ingredient is, of course, camel’s milk. Let me answer that question (about why it is so great) with sharing 7 Benefits of camel’s milk with you:

  1. Bioactive Peptides are found in Camel’s Milk. These are believed to have a natural anti-aging effect on the skin.
  2. Camel’s Milk is rich in Proteins. This can help with skin repair and healing.
  3. Collagen? Some studies indicate that Camel’s Milk may stimulate collagen production, helping reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
  4. Camel’s Milk has natural antimicrobial properties which will help with skin infections. The Lactic Acid could also assist with exfoliation.
  5. Anti-Inflammatory? Camel’s Milk also contains immunoglobulins and other compounds that have anti-inflammatory properties. This can help with inflamed skin.
  6. Camel’s Milk contains natural moisturising factors like lanolin and healthy fats. These can keep the skin hydrated.
  7. Vitamins and Minerals! Camel’s Milk contains vitamins such as Vitamin C, B and E plus minerals like Zinc and Magnesium which help in maintaining healthy skin.

Our Experience with Camel’s Milk and our Favourite Products

Skin Care

For your Facial Skin Care routine, I highly recommend trying out the Healing Cleansing Facial Bar followed by some fresh, cold water. Finally, apply the Camel Milk Face Rescue Cream. As I have shared before, the ingredients work together to both reduce oil and moisturise dry areas. They also heal the skin from various skin conditions, which I will address in another blog post. Really an awesome combo! For your body, I recommend their Castile Collection followed by the Camel Milk Body Rescue. If you are a body wash girl, like me, don’t worry. These soaps lather well and are easily used with your loofah. It’s a small thing to get used to when you consider the benefits.

Apart from their website, you can also purchase all these products from Faithful to Nature, along with all your other favourite products.

Hair Care

For Hair Care, The Camel Soap Factory have Shampoo and Conditioner bars that last for a long time! As with all bars, make sure they are stored correctly and allowed to dry each time after use.

The question is, do they work? I am happy to say, yes they do! They contain Sidr powder, and this is a key, natural ingredient because it is believed to offer several benefits. Sidr powder helps cleanse, it helps with itchiness and dandruff, it helps with hair strength and growth, and it is a natural hair conditioner.

High foaming but oh-so-gentle, our Balancing Shampoo Bar cuts through oil to leave your hair deeply cleansed, hydrated and flake free. Handcrafted with plant ingredients that includes super light Argan oil, traditional Sidr powder and Apiscalp™ that helps to lock in moisture and reduce sebum build up on oily scalps. Fragranced with a blend of Peppermint, Lavender, Eucalyptus and Tea tree essential oils to help reduce oil build up.
