Just 47 to go!

Summer days are wonderful, our Summer fruit is amazing! Pity about the drought… I hope and pray we get some rain soon but still it is good exercise in using this precious resource more carefully.

Water-Saving Tips

Here are some Water-saving tips you can use in your own home:

    1. Only flush when necessary. Don’t use it as a dustbin.
‘If it’s yellow let it mellow.
If it’s brown, flush it down.’
    2. Take a short 2-minute shower. A standard (non–water-saving) showerhead can use as much as 16 litres per minute.
    3. Collect your shower, bath and basin water and re-use it to flush your toilet as a priority. If extra, use for garden and vehicle cleaning.
    4. Wait for a full load before running washing machines and dishwashers. Re-use washing water for flushing toilets.
    5. Use a cup instead of running taps in the bathroom or kitchen for brushing teeth, shaving, drinking etc.
    6. Defrost foods in the fridge or naturally rather than placing it under running water.

Report pipe bursts by SMS 31373 (max 160 characters) and water wastage to: water@capetown.gov.za or call 0860 103 089. (Standard SMS and 0860 call rates apply) Or WhatsApp to 063 407 3699.
