‘Oh, you’re the best friends anybody ever had. And it’s funny, but I feel as if I’d known you all the time, but I couldn’t have, could I?’ – Dorothy, The Wizard Of Oz
How wonderful are friends? Friends make life meaningful and become like one of the family. I love my close friends. Nothing is more wonderful than to understand and to be understood by them.
“Wishing to be friends is quick work, but friendship is a slow ripening fruit.” – Aristotle
Lasting friendship takes effort and forgiveness and time. We all make mistakes from time to time. We need to get to know each other and respect differences but there is something truly magical about being so comfortable around another human being. Much like family, best friends feel like home.
“You can always tell a real friend: when you’ve made a fool of yourself he doesn’t feel you’ve done a permanent job.” – Laurence J. Peter
Friends make life bearable. Whether we make mistakes or we are going through trials they are there. Some may not communicate it that well…but when it comes down to it – they won’t let you down.
“It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Friends are people you can be absolutely silly with. Best friends are the ones that you laugh for hours with and no-one understands your jokes.
“Do not save your loving speeches for your friends till they are dead; do not write them on their tombstones, speak them rather now instead.” – Anna Cummins
And so, a note for my Bestie:
Thank you for being my friend. You fit perfectly into the puzzle of my life, you reflect me and I you. We push each other to think differently, to grow and to be better. Thank you for your gentle honesty. Thank you for your listening ear. I won’t lie, it’s not always easy. We know that but it has been totally worth it. Sometimes hurt creeps in or misunderstandings happen but each time we learn more and become better.
Thank you for your friendship!
