Resolutions to make us Happy in the New Year!

It is the beginning of a new year and it feels like just yesterday when I was making goals for 2014. It’s now 2015…it’s a new year. I find myself delaying goal setting and making resolutions, in part because I want them to be really meaningful. I know if I just spew out some half-hearted goals, they won’t mean anything and after a couple of days they will be forgotten.

Have you made your goals and resolutions for 2015?

What are you working on this year? It is so important that we share our goals so we can be held accountable and so we clarify what they actually are in our own minds.

My Goals

My first goal is related to something that has always been close to my heart and that is Gratitude! This year I want to have a grateful heart, in good and in bad times (preferably, this year it will be in good times). I want to take time in each moment to be grateful, to be thankful and to say “Thank you”.

My second goal is to be successful in all that I do: in life, in family, in business, spiritually, in my garden :), as a mother, as a teacher and the list goes on. How do we measure success? Well, for each of us success will mean something different.

Below is a quote from a great article on how we measure success:

Everyone has their own definition of success in life and in business. It’s not your job to live up to someone else’s idea of success. Your accomplishments and successes are yours, not theirs. And you get to measure success by your own standard.

You are the one who decides exactly what it means to be successful in any area of your life.  The time to make that decision is during the goal setting process.  Doing so will allow you to identify and celebrate each personal success along the way.

My third goal is to be gentle with myself. Allie from Between Dreams shares five ways in which we can be more gentle with ourselves:

  1. Speak with Love
  2. Feel your Feelings
  3. Small Steps Turn Into Quantum Leaps
  4. Embrace the Moment
  5. Count your blessings (back to gratitude)

Some great insight there, thanks Allie!

What goals have you made this year? Please share them in the comments below. I would love to hear from you!
