During the Christmas Season, we may get caught up in all the festive preparations and feel a little overwhelmed. I prefer looking to nature for healing and well-being before using synthetic options; that is probably why I love using oils for headaches, to reduce stress and to lift one’s mood. Qobo Qobo oils are produced locally and have a beautiful community upliftment story attached to them.
Nestled at the foot of the Amathola Mountains, a small local community is developing its resources to build a brighter future for them all. The small scale Indigenous Oils Programme was established in 2006 by the Siyakhokwa Group, which has been instrumental in this Rural Social Enterprise Project.
. . .Qobo Qobo Essential Oils is a non-profit organization which has established ten independent farmer units to grow Rose Geranium, Cape Chamomile and Wild Rosemary for profit in Keiskamahoek, Eastern Cape.
Site units belong to emerging local farmers, who take full control in the crop production, and provide crop bio mass to the central processing plant at Siyakholwa Development Foundation.

I was sent two of their oils to try out, Rosemary and Rose Geranium. Both have natural benefits when used. You can either use a diffuser or you can apply them topically using a carrier oil.
Rosemary Oil
Rosemary oil is a wonderful mental stimulant and memory booster. Used diluted and applied topically, Rosemary Oil is known to stimulate hair growth, reduce pain, soothe inflammation, eliminate headaches, strengthen the immune system, and condition hair to make it look and feel healthy.
Rose Geranium Oil
Rose Geranium Oil works as an anti-inflammatory and anti-septic agent. It is reputed to enhance circulation, soothe symptoms of menstruation and menopause, reduce blood pressure and pain, and boost immunity health. Rose Geranium oil is used to treat acne, reduce inflammation, alleviate anxiety and balance hormones. This sweet-smelling oil can also uplift your mood, lessen fatigue and promote emotional wellness.
Immediately after I put the Rose Geranium oil in the humidifier, I felt less fatigued (after a very busy week) and my mood improved. The great thing about QOBO QOBO oils is that they are 100% pure & natural therapeutic-grade essential oils; perfumed oils don’t contain the same benefits and you can immediately tell the difference once the humidifier starts.
There are some great gift options available here. I can’t think of a nicer gift for someone who has had a tough year or a really hectic end of year.
a few THINGS to remember when working with essential oils:
- When applying oils topically, always use a carrier oil. These are oils used to dilute essential oils, like olive/coconut/avocado.
- Always do a patch test before applying anything to larger areas of your skin.
- Many essential oils shouldn’t be ‘taken by mouth’ unless under the specific care of a healthcare professional.
Please Note: Most experts caution against using most essential oils if you are pregnant or nursing; it is always best to err on the side of caution.
