With New Year’s Day often comes Resolutions, goals and plans for bigger and better things – for you and for your family.
This year I have only two resolutions. I have some goals or dreams but only two resolutions. Why? Well, let’s be honest, resolutions don’t always work out. Unlike goals which are measured and broken down into smaller goals, resolutions are usually directed at things we would like to change about ourselves and that is one of the hardest things to do.
What are my two New Year’s Resolutions…dare I say them out loud? I guess I must because my first resolution is to be Emotionally Honest. What does that mean exactly? Well, what it does not mean is being unkind unnecessarily.
Emotional honesty means expressing your true feelings…
If we are more emotionally honest with ourselves we will get to know our “true selves” on a deeper level. This could help us become more self-accepting. It could also helps us make better choices about how to spend out time and who to spend it with.
If we are emotionally honest with others, it may encourage them to be more emotionally honest. When we are emotionally honest we are more likely not to be asked or pressured to do things which we do not want to do. We will also find out sooner who respects our feelings…
It takes emotional awareness, self-confidence, even courage to be emotionally honest.

My second resolution is to be more than on time, I want to be EARLY! This is going to be hard in my mind because we are “so busy” but the truth is that I just need to change how my mind thinks. It is possible. It is! It is, right? Haha!
Eek, now I have said them out loud. I guess I will have to follow through!
