Holding virtual Hands as we go into Lockdown

It is 2 hours until South Africa is on Lockdown. It is pretty crazy if you think about it, just a few weeks ago we were getting on with our day-to-day routine and now almost 56 Million South Africans will be staying home for the next 3 weeks.

I could get all technical with you and explain why this is important or I could make a few jokes, as we South Africans do; but tonight I just wanted to be here with you as you get into bed. I wanted to tell you that it will be okay and we will get through this together.

Daily, we have been bombarded with information and questions. People are freaking out and stripping the shelves bare in a panic. Today, I was reprimanded for talking briefly to a young matriculant who has had her whole year thrown upside down. “In and out”, she said. “No time for chatting, people” and, while she may be right to a degree, she was not kind.

If I have learnt anything, if we are going to get through this better than before, we need to be kind, we need to love and we need to use this awesome, crazy technology we have to connect.

It is going to be okay, if we all stay home, we will be okay. Just share love in any way you can. We got this! Our President is doing everything he can to protect us. Now let us all, stay home.

We love you all and we will be here every step of the way, sharing things to help you.

Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika and may God bless the world ♥

Good Night.
