Buy Local

UPDATE: MAY 2020

With Covid-19 really changing how we do things and affecting people all over the world; we need to “buy local” now more than ever. Supporting a local business in your community, provides for the needs of a family! Not sure how to get started? Try this one month buying local challenge shared by Rebecca Moses on Groom + Style.

To begin the challenge, try making a list of the items that you need to purchase for the month. Include groceries, produce, and other necessities. Also, be sure to include days when you intend to eat out or grab a coffee. Then in a column next to the items that you need to purchase, start brainstorming a list of local retailers, local farms, and local businesses where you might find them. Once you get started, you will see how easy it can be to purchase what you need locally.

We have all heard the saying “buy local”, but why should we be buying locally? Does it make a difference? You may have seen the image above on Social Media recently. I am not sure where it originated; it does make a good point. However there are so many reasons why we should buy local – check out 10 more reasons here. Add to that the quality and care taken to produce locally made items, and I knew what I needed to do this year!

So, I went to find out for myself what local items where available for Christmas on a local moms group. I was shocked with the number of awesome parents out there making amazing goodies. I decided a blog post was needed to put them all in one place, tell you about them and make an easy reference page for myself!
