Gratitude and the act of being grateful has been on mind a lot lately. An attitude of gratitude is a mind shift, an active effort has to be made to change and let’s be honest, its not easy.

Here are 4 ideas that may help you be more grateful:

  1. Keep a Gratitude Journal. Write in your journal daily.
  2. Watch your Language! Do you speak with gratitude?
  3. Fake it, till you make it. Practice gratitude you will become more grateful! Start by smiling, saying thank you and writing letters of gratitude. Soon these things will become part of who you are.
  4. Think Outside the Box. If you want to make the most out of opportunities to flex your gratitude muscles, you must creatively look for new situations and circumstances in which to feel grateful. Remember the quote I have shared a few times…

“We sometimes think that being grateful is what we do after our problems are solved, but how terribly short-sighted that is. How much of life do we miss by waiting to see the rainbow before thanking God that there is rain?”

Dieter F. Uchtdorf

and here are some more gratitude quotes to inspire you to make the change:

“We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.” – Thornton Wilder

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” – John F. Kennedy

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
- Oprah Winfrey
(This is so true! Thanks Oprah!)

“Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.” – Henri Frederic Amiel

“Do not indulge in dreams of having what you have not, but reckon up the chief of the blessings you do possess, and then thankfully remember how you would crave for them if they were not yours.” – Marcus Aurelius
