Nelson Mandela said “I am not a saint, unless you think of a saint as a sinner who keeps on trying.” He was a great man who took his life experiences and let them change him for the better instead of being bitter and angry. He nurtured unity in South Africa and the World. To honour him, it is my hope that we will find ways to keep his legacy alive by educating, loving, forgiving, working and taking responsibility for ourselves and our own actions (as we are the only person we can truly change).
He also said:
“As I have said, the first thing is to be honest with yourself. You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself… Great peacemakers are all people of integrity, of honesty, but humility.”
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
“It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.”
Rest in peace Tata.
