Nelson Mandela quoted these words from Marianne Williamson, she said:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
I love this quote, in fact I may have shared it before. What has really touched me these past few weeks is the last part (And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others), as I have had to make some difficult decisions regarding a few things including my business.
I felt the impression to make these changes a long time ago but I guess fear stopped me. I have now made some of these changes and as I have done so I feel it is the right decision and the fear has melted away. It is especially difficult when the changes you make affect other people but I was inspired by others who let their light shine!
As I have done this, I have seen others around me make fierce decisions. I admire their courage! If I inspired them in any way, I see it as a blessing. I too feel that they will inspire those around them and so it will go on, each person facing their fears and letting their light shine.
Who inspires you?
