Natural Beauty Recipes

January 16, 2013

Natural Beauty Recipes that only contain a few ingredients (most of which you already have in your kitchen).

Bath Salts

For a relaxing bath or the perfect gift!

Course Sea Salt
Epsom Salts
Bicarbonate of Soda (Baking Soda)
Essential oils of your choice
Food Colouring

  1. Combine coarse sea salt; Epsom salts (to soothe tired muscles and reduce inflammation) and baking soda (to soften waters and alleviate skin irritation).
  2. Add a few drops of essential oils and combine.
  3. Add a few drops of food coloring, until you achieve the desired shade.
  4. If you intend to give the bath salts as gifts, be sure to store them in a sealed (and labeled) container to keep out moisture.

Face Mask

My favourite beauty mask.

Eggs
Oats
Banana
Honey
Drop of Fresh Lemon Juice

  1. Mix ingredients together.
  2. You can leave out a few ingredients if you don’t have them. Even a plain egg and lemon mask works great!
  3. Apply to face and leave until it dries. It should feel a bit tight.
  4. Rinse and Voila! Soft, smooth skin.

Body Scrub

You need to try this!

Brown Treacle Sugar
Cinnamon
Olive oil
Essential oil of your choice
Fresh Rose Petals

  1. Combine ingredients.
  2. To apply, massage into slightly damp skin and rinse.
  3. Cut up rose petals and mix them in (leave a few for the top (especially if you are giving this as a gift).

*TIP: Put this body scrub into a nice glass jar and decorate with ribbon and a custom tag. This makes an amazing gift!

Honey-Avocado Hair Treatment

Invigorating and Revitalizing

Avocado — peeled and stoned
Honey

  1. Mash together the ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Massage into hair.
  3. Leave for 20-30 minutes.
  4. Wash hair as usual.

Nail Strengthener

Naturally…

Castor oil
Salt
Wheat germ oil

  1. Pour all ingredients into a bottle.
  2. Before each use shake well.
  3. Rub a small amount of the  mixture onto your nails.
  4. Leave on for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Wipe off with a cotton pad.

Foot Spa

Good for a home pedicure.

Epsom salts
Essential oils of your choice

  1. Fill either a foot bath or your bath tub to ankle height with warm water.
  2. Dissolve 1/2 cup Epsom salts in the warm water and add the essential oil of your choice (lavender, rosewood, patchouli and  sandalwood are relaxing oils, while lemongrass and eucalyptus are uplifting)
  3. Soak for 10-15 minutes. Pat dry and moisturise.
