For the last two weeks of Lockdown we have been sharing activities and ideas on our Facebook Page. We thought we would put them together in one space for easy reference.
Day 1
TOILET PAPER BUNNY STAMPS – What a great idea for all those toilet rolls we are going to have left. It was originally shared by a NewYoungMum but it doesn’t seem her website is available anymore.
Day 2
SHADOW DRAWING – I’m not quite sure who orginally posted this but this is another fun idea for kids and adults alike. Place the toy in such a way that the shadow falls on the paper and you can easily draw the item. You may want to start with an outline and then draw in the details. Have fun!
Day 3
MAKE A FAMILY TREE – You can do this on paper or you can go to https://www.familysearch.org/en/ and create a digital family tree. You can also search for family members.
Day 4
SALT DOUGH RECIPE
Recipe for Salt Dough Easter Eggs:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup water
Stir together all three ingredients until a dough forms. Kneading the dough a couple times can help make it smoother.
Roll it out and cut out desired shapes.
Place the salt dough Easter eggs on the parchment-covered baking sheets. Remember to make a hole so you can hang the ornaments — a straw works perfectly!
Bake at 120C for 2 hours.
Once the shapes are adequately baked, dried and then thoroughly cooled, it’s painting time. I like using spray paint because it’s faster and easier but acrylics work just as well.
Day 5
DIY PAINT FOR KIDS! – Paging Fun Mums shared this recipe.
Mix 3 tbs sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 cup corn flour, 2 cups water and food colouring.
Day 6
HOW ABOUT A SCAVENGER HUNT? – Look at these cute ideas shared by PrimaryPlayground!
Day 7
LET’S GO ON A SAFARI! – Go on a live safari in the Kruger National Park, right from the comfort of your couch! Search for Wild Earth Safari live on Youtube and you can go on a morning or afternoon game drive too! 05h30 – 08h30 and 15h30 – 18h30 (South African time/GMT+2)

Day 8
COVID19 TIME CAPSULE – Natalie Long of Long Creations shared this awesome printable: https://www.dropbox.com/…/2020%20Covid-19%20time%20capsule%…
‘We are all living through history right now and I thought a “time capsule” would be an amazing way to document this experience to look back on, these worksheets were created by me for my family but I wanted to share with all my fans! Simply download the 11 page PDF, print as many copies as you wish and work with your child to fill in the sheets!’
Day 9
3 INGREDIENT CHEESECAKE – Let’s bake cake! We have shared this before, but here is an easy reference. Just a tip, if you make it and leave it for a few days it becomes more cheesecakey. . .if that makes sense.
Day 10
COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS – Make a collage or draw pictures, with your children, showing all your blessings. This is a great opportunity to spend time with your family focusing on the good and how blessed we all are. Stay safe and healthy xx
Day 11
READ THESE RHYMES WITH SOME OF OUR FAVOURITE CHARACTERS
These two artists created relevant verses with oh so cute imagery, perfect for a giggle with kids. Laughter if the best medicine after all xx
Day 12
HOMEMADE CLAY – Here is an easy recipe for homemade clay. You can make it in different colours and scents!
Day 13
CREATE A HUGE RACING TRACK – Create a huge racing track or road network using some masking tape, like this version from Be a Fun Mum.
Day 14
LEARN A DANCE! – Allprodad says: Go on Youtube and find a popular dance. Learn it as a family. Don’t worry if you aren’t a good dancer. That isn’t the point. Have your kids help you and laugh together. If you are a good dancer, help teach them.
